Daily Photo Blue Ring Octopus

The blue ring octopus enjoys a certain level of chutzpah compared to others. Tales of the deadly venom of the blue ring are known by divers and non divers alike. When it comes to talk of sea creatures, someone always brings up how fast a blue ring octopus can kill. However, what not many people realize is just how small these octopus are. Typically, a blue ring is smaller than an adult man’s palm yet carries enough venom to kill 20 people. Saying that, they are shy creatures and quite difficult to find. Biting a potential threat is the last thing on their mind, they would always prefer to flee instead. They tend to blend in well with rocky bottoms and only when they feel threatened do they bring out their namesake blue rings. Have you ever encountered one of these wonderful little octopus?
