Daily Photo Stingray Feeding in the Sand

Stingrays are interesting animals. With their disc like body and eyes placed atop their head, it can be difficult to figure out how they eat. Their mouth is actually located on the underside of their body and is specially designed to feed on molluscs and crustaceans. In order to find these tasty critters, stingrays must dig into the sand to dislodge them. They vibrate their bodies into the sand and create a large sandstorm when feeding. It’s easy to spot tell when a stingray is looking for food as the cloud of dust is visible a long way away.
