Daily Photo Panther Grouper – AKA Barramundi Cod
The panther grouper has many names. Some call it the barramundi cod, others call it the humpback grouper, whereas the scientific name is Cromileptes altivelis. Whatever you call it, this beautiful fish is commonly found throughout the Indo Pacific region. The bright white colour and distinctive polka dots stand out when they are trying to hide. Although they resemble juvenile sweetlips as they dance about the bottom, they have a distinct shape among reef fish.
