We are happy to announce a brand new Komodo liveaboard trip in September 2027. We are excited to join with the wonderful Samambaia liveaboard for an 11 night adventure in Komodo and Sumbawa. This trip runs 6-17 September 2027 beginning and ending in Labuan Bajo. The Komodo region is one of our favourite destinations in the world and there is no better host than the Samambaia. These trips are open to 14 divers and spaces are limited. If you would like to join us please Contact Us today.

Our itinerary for this trip includes some of the best diving that Indonesia has to offer. This voyage will visit an incredible mix of healthy coral reefs, incredible critters and hopefully encounters with two of the most charismatic underwater animals: manta rays and whalesharks! If that list isn’t enough, you will also get the opportunity to visit Komodo National Park to see komodo dragons, deer, water buffalo and monkeys.
Starting in Labuan Bajo, we will head south to the world famous Horseshoe Bay and Manta Alley before working our way west at Banta and Bima. From there the boat will head further west to Saleh Bay for a morning of swimming with whalesharks. On the way back to Komodo we will visit the wonderful black sand sites of Sangeang volcano before finishing the trip back in North Komodo to visit the signature sites of Castle Rock, Batu Bolong. The trip will end with adventurous walks in the Park including one of the ranger stations to visit the dragons.
Do keep in mind that September is one of the best times to visit this area. Weather conditions can change but we do hope to visit all sites listed. However, there is the possibility that weather could play a role in whether we make it to Horseshoe Bay and Manta Alley. If not, there are plenty of amazing sites we can visit in the area. One thing to keep in mind is water temperatures for the trip. The northern sites and Sumbawa will be 27-28C (80-82F) whereas Manta Alley and Horseshoe Bay can be as low as 18C (64-65F). We definitely recommend having a second, warmer wetsuit for this trip as opposed to just one.

The Samambaia is fitted with all the features of a modern dive liveaboard. With a powerful marine engine, which can reach up to 10 knots cruising speed, it’s the best way to explore Indonesia. During the design process the focus was on the details which make it such a great boat. Functionality is paired with aesthetics and quality materials. The layout of the ship was built around the needs of the guests. Comfort and service are of highest priority on board, while the atmosphere is relaxed and cozy. The boat offers many areas for both social activity and private time. A large sundeck with a removable shade cover when the sun gets too hot.
The food on the boat is fantastic with a variety of western and Indonesian dishes. Fresh coffee is always available from a top notch espresso machine. Soft drinks and water are available in the salon 24 hours per day. Beer is available in the price, wine and cocktails are available but not included.
Pricing for this cruise starts at 128 million rupiah (approximately USD $7600) per person for twin/double occupancy. The Samambaia also has one Master suite available for an extra charge. National Park and Harbour fees are to be paid per person directly on board. These fees are paid to the boat at the end of the trip and cannot be prepaid. The current fees are approximately $475 per person but are subject to change depending on National Park price hikes and fuel costs.
