Komodo Liveaboard October 2017

Bali – Komodo – Bali

From 21 – 28 October 2017 we will be running a Liveaboard trip to the beautiful Komodo National Park on board one of our favourite vessels, the Mermaid 2.

The “Bali – Komodo – Bali” itinerary offers us the chance to dive some very beautiful spots on the way to Komodo National Park, such as the active volcano of Sangeang, the island of Satonda, as well as Gili Banta, with it’s pristine coral reef, great visibility and exceptional world class macro subjects.

Additionally, departing from and returning to Bali for this unique live aboard trip, offers the advantage of maximizing holiday and diving time by removing the need of additional domestic flights to reach Labuan Bajo – Komodo National Park.

M/V Mermaid Liveaboard Vessel

The M/V Mermaid II Dive Cruise vessel is the perfect dive yacht host for our Komodo Liveaboard October 2017 trip.  The steel hull vessel is very stable and the twin engine set up allows us to cruise at a fast pace, making it easy to reach our first dive location after an overnight trip from Bali.

The cabins are comfortable and all are equipped with A/C and an ensuite bathroom. There is a large indoor salon and outdoor rest area on the upper deck. The dive platform is very spacious and the ever-present crew are very helpful and ready to assist you. There are showers on the dive deck and tables that can be used for UW camera equipment.

Food is never an issue, there is always something available to eat and the meals provided are tasty and suitable to different palates

What is the diving like with The Underwater Tribe and the Mermaid Fleet?

As with every Underwater Tribe led adventure, there will be a Tribe member onboard our Komodo Liveaboard October 2017 trip assisting with UW photography queries. We are there to make sure that all photographers know what kind of photo opportunities each dive site offers. The Mermaid Fleet’s very capable guides prioritise safety as well as acting as world class spotters. They specialise in finding all of the interesting critters that make Indonesia’s waters one of the most unique dive destination in the world.

The main vessel is always near our dive location and the two dive tenders ferry us back and forth to the dive sites. We keep the groups small with just 4 guests per guide and we coordinate the timing so that we aren’t all on the dive deck at the same time, ensuring plenty of space for everyone.

We coordinate with the crew to ensure that our itinerary will cover the best dive sites, including all of the iconic places that make Komodo one of the top dive destinations in the world

Thanks to the knowledge we have built over our years of experience in Komodo, we will try to dive all the sites at their best time with regard to current and tide. Komodo National Park can have strong current so we will try to avoid sites when the current is not right, instead diving them with ideal conditions. Having said that, this trip is not suitable for newly certified divers and every participant should be comfortable diving with a current and have at least 50 logged dives of experience.

Komodo and Bali Dive Combo

A Bali and Komodo combination trip is a great way to dive two locations on one trip. Join our well established Bali Dive company and enjoy a few days of diving ahead of the liveaboard trip to Komodo. Under the supervision of our very experienced dive guides and staff, we can organise a Bali Dive Safari to experience the iconic sites in Bali such as Tulamben, Amed, Nusa Penida, or even Menjangan.

If you are an UW photographer why not attend our 2 day Underwater Photography Brush Up. One of our photo instructors will help you brush up on the important ins and outs of UW Photography in order to enjoy to the fullest the trip to Komodo.
