Lembeh Photo Workshop 2018
We are happy to announce our 6th annual Underwater Tribe/NAD Lembeh Photo Fun Week with Doug Sloss for July and August 2018. Our 2017 Lembeh Photo Workshop was a resounding success once again with 16 happy attendees who joined us for a week full of fun. We have scheduled our Lembeh Photo Workshop 2018 starting on the 28th of July until the 4th of August for 7 nights and 17 dives total. The package includes return airport transfer, full board meals at the resort, 2 to 1 guest to dive guide ratio, digital copies of the outlines, and of course daily photo tuition.
We will be limiting the numbers of participants during the week in order to give everyone as much personal attention as possible. We will have up to 3 photography instructors on hand during the event and everyone will have a chance to dive with each of them. What sets an Underwater Tribe photo workshop apart from the others is the fact that our instructors are “hands on” teaching while underwater. We don’t take our cameras underwater, we use slates only and dive with each student to help them achieve the best results possible.
Who Should Join an Underwater Tribe Photo Week?
Our photo weeks are for everyone, no matter how experienced a photographer. We always start with the basics and work our way toward more advanced topics as the week progresses. Quite often we have a good mix of both experienced photographers as well as people who are taking their camera underwater for the first time. With the emphasis on “hands on” tutoring, both underwater and in the classroom, there is plenty of time for both new and experienced photographers to learn from the instructors in a relaxed and easy going atmosphere. We discuss theory starting at the basics of f-stops and shutter speeds and continue on to more advanced subjects such as snooting, creating different backgrounds and shooting wide angle in muck diving territory. We will also be presenting a ton of great information about Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop for post processing images.
How Does a Typical Day Run?
A typical day consists of an early breakfast and then departure for 2 dives at 730am. The NAD boats are large and spacious with plenty of room for everyone’s cameras. We split the group in 3 over 3 boats with one photo instructor per boat who will work with the group with their photography. (the instructors rotate boats each day) The boats return to the resort for lunch and a short presentation before heading out for the third dive of the day. After returning to the resort, we host a post processing and individual photo critiquing session starting at approximately 5pm until dinner time. Throughout the week there will be the opportunity to join Mandarin fish or night dives with a minimum of 2 guests. Certain nights may also see a presentation after dinner as well, however, we try to limit these as often participants are ready for bed after a long day of diving.
